Some schools do a fantastic job teaching students basic computer programming skills….others, not so much. If your school offers programming classes, excellent! If not, how can a student learn to code outside a traditional classroom? Is it even important we all have at least a basic understanding of computer programming? Why or why not?

Alright….now what? There are lots of resources online, but how do we sort through them to find the most helpful resources? One of my personal favorites is w3schools.com. This is an excellent resource for learning to code websites. Khan Academy has also introduced a few basic programming tutorials. Check out this “Welcome to Computer Science” video (also below) with an interactive tutorial.

I believe it’s very important to know code, the websites you use today are based off of them. Some of the blogs you use are based off of code such as tumblr, I myself know how to use code to create my own website templates. Most of the time I copy and paste HTML codes into my customize HTML box and have my own template and I can manipulate into the way in which I want it to look. At times I change the color of my blog and change the cursor into a cross or make images double. I for one would love to heighten my knowledge of code.

coding may not be extremely important in all lines of work, but this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t know about coding. the internet is an important part of business and every day life. coding web pages can promote or even run somebody’s business. this is where knowing the basics of coding will come in handy. Coding can also come in handy in school life. coding web pages for projects and other things can get you extra “wow” points and can be very impressive during interviews for jobs. i would like to learn the basics of coding to help me later on in my school and business life.

I think it is important we know at least the basics of how to code. If we don’t even know the basics of coding we can be successful. But, we won’t be able to show anybody how much skill we have or how successful we are. You could be the best lawyer but if somebody looks you up and doesn’t find a website or finds an interesting website they won’t think you are a good lawyer because you can’t even code a website. Plus, if your not a good lawyer, you could use coding as your career. You could code other people’s websites. I learned from this video that we need to code to show people that we are good at something and we can prove it. Plus, coding isn’t something we can just blow off and skim it to get a good grade. We have to understand it to move forward in our lives. Even celebrities. I also learned that computers can read weird sentences like fill (50, 480, 320); The ; is the computer’s version of a period.

I don’t think you have to prove to everyone that you’re good at something. People just believe you’re good at it when you show them. IF you really know you’re good at something, then you shouldn’t have to try and convince people. But you still do make a good point.

I think it would be great if everyone learned how to code. It is easy and it could help us find a job when we are older. If you never try you will never know if you will be good or not. I myself would like to learn how to code and I think it would be cool and help full if I wanted to do something with websites when I am older or it could be a good skill. I do think it is important to learn the basics of working with computers but not all the time. If you want to be an engineer, or a doctor, it should be important to learn how to code so you can find information and access to help you with what you are doing. The times when it is not important is if you are a farmer or a gymnist, I don’t think it will be as important to learn so much about computers, it might however be a good idea to use a computer for information and to keep things organized. So my answer is it is more important for some people but less important for others. However not all people should learn to code, maybe they should just learn for basic information.

In this video I found out that it is important to know about coding in the future. I also saw how most people wanted to make things easier by putting things on the web by using coding. A guy named Mark was the guy who made face book and he wanted to make something on line that his friends, his sisters and everyone else in the world wold like to use. All the people on the video had said the wished they learned coding earlier in their lives. I also had heard that even if you want to be a dancer, singer, a football player or something else coding will be needed in the future no matter what career you choose to have when you grow up.

I think it is very important for kids to learn at least the basics of computer programming. It is a very important skill to learn. If you are creative and love math and science at the same time, this could be the perfect job for you. Kids could learn a lot from computer programming and it is fun at the same time. I learned a lot from the video. One thing I learned is that if you put two parenthesis in front of a word or sentence, the computer kind of blocks the word or sentence out. Also, in the computer world, you have to end the sentence you write with a colon.

I think that it is important to understand how to code or at least the basics of it because we are becoming a generation that uses computers daily in our lives. I think that knowing how to code is crucial because these days almost everything has to do with a computer in the end. From this video I learned that after every instruction while coding is ended with a semi colon, so the computer knows the instruction is over. If you put two slashes in front of a line, that allows you to make a comment for you and the computer just acts like that line isn’t there. You can also play with the instruction numbers to change the color, motions, size, etc. of the program. I think this is cool because it gives you some of the basics of coding.

I think we all need to learn about coding because computers are taking over our lives. In about 50-100 years, I think if you aren’t able to code, aka successfully manipulate computers, you will be an outcast. You need to understand the things taking over your life. I learned that most people didn’t start off a coders, but as they grew up, and took some lessons, and decided they wanted to become programmers. It is saying that most anyone can become a programmer, and that they can do amazing things. It also is not a bad job.The video tutorial shows how easy it can be to code. From this tutorial I learned that times have changed a lot. I thought back to the Pirates of Silicon Valley and thought how the first apple offices looked, they were very average and you didn’t do anything there but work. Now a days the offices are big and colorful and there’s things to eat, places to rest, places to play, etc. So overtime offices have improved a lot, so has technology.

We need to have a basic understanding of computers or even better. I mean technology is taking over these days so we need to keep with it. Technology is upgrading faster than us and we need to keep up. It will be a good skill for when we are adults

I think it is important for everyone to learn the basics at least, because there are a huge amount of jobs in america for programmers, and a lot of those jobs are going un-taken because there are not many programmers in the US.
I learned a little about how to program, and why programming is important. i also learned that programmers work in awesome offices. Lastly, I learned that learning to program is important.

I think it is important to learn coding. I don’t think it should be mandatory though. If people don’t want to learn it then they shouldn’t. It should be an elective. In the tutorial I didn’t learn too much. I took a coding class two years ago I think so I know a little already.

I think we all need to learn about coding because computers are taking over our lives. In about 50-100 years, I think if you aren’t able to code, aka successfully manipulate computers, you will be an outcast. You need to understand the things taking over your life. I learned that most people didn’t start off a coders, but as they grew up, and took some lessons, and decided they wanted to become programmers. It is saying that most anyone can become a programmer, and that they can do amazing things. It also is not a bad job.

I think that it is very important that we understand computer programming. I believe this because no matter what career you go into you will probably have to use a computer every once in a while. It just helps to understand so you know what’s wrong or right. From the tutorial I learned that it can actually be fun to create new things and change them a little. Now I am more interested in all of this.

Yes, it is important that we understand the basics of computer programming. It’s important because if you know the basics you can change things on your own or at least know what is going on when someone else is doing something.
From this tutorial I learned that a lot of computer programming is used for different things that seem simple but are harder if you don’t learn it. Also I learned that it’s important to know programming when making a website, or a game, etc. and that you can find information for it on a computer or it a book.

I learned that a “semicolon” is like how you end a sentence in coding. It is a lot like a period. Also I learned that i am apparently smarter than a computer. Every line of code are like instructions. An error screen shows up if you don’t do the code correctly.

I think it’s important that we all have a basic understanding of computer programming because in the video it said that most jobs aren’t fulfilled because of no programming knowledge.
In the tutorial, i learned that a semicolon is used like a period in programming, and that two slashes turns something into a comment. The computer will ignore the comment though.
